Inclusion
Our Trust believes that inclusion means removing barriers so that every child and young person can belong, participate, achieve and thrive. As part of our inclusion strategy for Kingfisher Schools Trust, we have seven principles that underpin our inclusion strategy:
Principle 1: Ambitious leadership and governance that embeds inclusion
Principle 2: Evidence-based support prioritising early intervention
Principle 3: High-quality teaching adaptive teaching with curriculums designed for all learners
Principle 4: Enriching provision beyond the classroom that all children can access.
Principle 5: A safe and respectful culture fostering belonging, attendance and participation
Principle 6: Strong partnerships with families and wider services
Principle 7: Inclusive environments with continuous improvements to accessibility
To ensure these principles are implemented effectively, we have set ourselves the following priorities to achieve by 2029:
- Redefine and strengthen the Universal Offer in every school to align with the national SEND reforms
- Build workforce expertise through a coherent Trust-wide CPD programme
- Understand the equality and accessibility barriers facing our pupils and take strategic action to address these
- Develop meaningful inclusion metrics
- Strengthen relationships with external specialist services, taking a leading role in local area partnerships and the Experts at Hand Suffolk pilot scheme
- Support every school to develop and publish an Inclusion Strategy aligned to DfE expectations (using their template) and aligned to the Inclusive Mainstream Fund
- Develop targeted provision within all settings, e.g. an inclusion base for every secondary, by 2030
